Inside David Gandy’s luxury kitchen
When male model and quintessential English gentleman David Gandy enlisted Bakehouse to create the perfect lifestyle kitchen space, the Georgian property’s features, luxurious finishes and an impeccable eye for detail came together to create this stunning, unique design
Balance, symmetry & simplicity
Creative director Alan Ramm worked closely with David to realise the vision for an elegant open-plan kitchen and living space that would form the central point of this family home and lifestyle, offering something different with the highest attention to detail.
Nestled alongside the lush greenery of Richmond Park, the London property has a Georgian architectural style, known for its balance and symmetry, which became a key foundation for the bespoke kitchen. With a shared passion for this design style, Alan worked with David to ensure the perfectly crafted furniture would blend with the architectural mouldings throughout the home. The challenge was to meticulously balance the proportions and grandeur of Georgian-inspired design with a contemporary note to exude timeless sophistication and meet the needs of modern family life as well as create a space perfect for entertaining.
The luxury touch
Fully renovated, the house features wall panelling throughout . This was used as a reference point for the cabinetry which achieves the same panelled front to sit seamlessly alongside the wider interiors, complete with discreet handles on the upper wall units.
The Vogue Luxe collection forms the backdrop to the elegant scheme with an island clad in Neolith’s Abu Dhabi white silk sintered stone worktop, which has a marble effect, and was also introduced in the cook zone. Accented with brass through the hinges, handles and other fittings, the design has a welcoming warmth while the symmetrical placement of elements – from furniture, appliances and lighting to plug outlets – creates a calm and ordered aesthetic.
“The most stylish and individual designers and cabinet makers I’ve ever worked with”

In the detail
A bespoke Bakehouse kitchen goes beyond the ordinary so David’s kitchen is elevated through carefully considered handcrafted details that harmonise the traditional with the modern, emphasising the fundamentals of balance in the scheme. The panelled style of the Vogue Luxe cabinetry is offset with the marble-effect island which features an angled edge profile that helps show off the grain of the stone. A ribbed walnut front then echoes the shade of the marble effect, tying the rich colour scheme together.
David specified appliances by Sub Zero & Wolf, so built-in ovens and refrigeration were specified to each end of the kitchen, while a combination hob has its controls mounted on the side of the island for a professional look that keeps sightlines clear.
Spaces for living
Alan designed a utility room featuring Original Bakehouse Shaker cabinetry to house everyday appliances, wine conditioner and ample storage. Open shelved units with walnut internals tie the look to the main kitchen and practically, provide easy access to crockery and kitchen equipment.
A boot room stands apart with a dark green colour scheme applied to the Original Bakehouse Shaker cabinetry, offering a gentleman’s club feel to a room that is practical at its core. Locker-style storage for coats and boots was created for each family member alongside cupboards with brass accents and a laundry station complete with a Butler sink.
